Frank: No problem. The volcano's only about twenty minutes west of La Fortuna by car. So I'm sure you could handle them both.

Compass directions
Use compass words to describe direction: north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest.
For coasts, use: on the east coast / on the eastern coast. You can also say on the northern / southern / western coast.
How to describe geographical location
Use these phrases to say exactly where a place is. Pay attention to the preposition before each phrase.
Use north of / south of / east of / west of when one place is outside another place.
Example: Vietnam is south of China.
Use in the northern / southern / eastern / western part of when the place is inside an area.
Example: Barranquilla is in the northern part of Colombia.
Use on with coasts, rivers, and lakes.
